WEBSITE OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this website is to present the work of the Cypriot folk poet Christophoros Th. Palesis (A.K.A Paleshis). Here you will find information about the poet’s life and work, you will read/listen to some of his poems, and you will be informed about new editions of his poetry.

Currently, the main contents of this website are the following:

  • A brief Biography of the poet written by his son Antonios Chr. Palesis

  • An overview of the new editions of his well known narrative poem “Irene and Vassos” (“Ειρηνού και Βάσος”) now available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook format.

  • Sample poems illustrating the breath and diversity of the poet’s work, including several autobiographical poems that described how Chr. Th. Palesis viewed his role as a poet, a few love poems, a narrative poem illustrating the traditional marriage customs in old Cypriot villages, and a hand-written manuscript of several unpublished wedding songs.
